At about age 4, I cleared out my room, shook out my white cotton carpet, sat and began to do poses to relieve my back and calm my mind. Little did I know I was doing yoga poses until I took yoga in college and felt the pain from my scoliosis begin to dissolve. When I was very young, I remember sitting in a lounge chair after hosing off the patio for my parents and thinking it was so lovely, peaceful and calming, listening to the birds, and so, sitting and meditating became one of my joys. This made more sense when I was initiated by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi into Transcendental Meditation in 1969 and discovered a wonderful way to reduce stress.
